How to Plan a Flyer Campaign and Measure Enquiries
Before printing a flyer, decide who will receive it and what you want them to do next. A campaign is easier to evaluate when the audience, distribution plan and response route are clear before the first copy is handed out.
Choose one useful next action
For an appointment-based business, that might be requesting a consultation. For a café, it might be viewing the menu or using a clearly defined offer. Give the action a visible place in the design and make sure the destination works on a phone.
The flyer and destination should describe the same offer. Sending people to a general homepage can create extra searching if the advertised service is hard to find there.

Estimate the number you can actually distribute
Start with planned handouts per location per day × locations × distribution days. Add a reserve you can justify. For example, 75 flyers per location × 3 locations × 4 days gives 900; a 10% reserve brings the print estimate to 990. This is a planning example, not a recommended minimum order or a forecast of sales.
Use the flyer quantity planner to calculate your own estimate. If you have no distribution history, a measured initial run can help you decide what to change before the next order. Agree any venue or distribution permissions before committing to that plan.
Use a response route you can identify
A dedicated landing-page link, distinct offer code or enquiry question can help identify responses from the campaign. If you use a QR code, check the final printed size, destination and mobile journey. Keep a written contact route available too.
If you already use website analytics, campaign parameters can identify visits from a printed link. Do not put personal information into those parameters. Record the campaign name consistently so you can compare results later.
Keep scans, enquiries and orders separate
- Distributed copies: record what was handed out, not merely what was printed.
- Visits or scans: signals of interaction, not confirmed customers.
- Enquiries: relevant calls, messages or forms asking about the advertised service.
- Orders: confirmed purchases attributed through your agreed method.
For example, 20 enquiries from 1,000 distributed copies is a 2% observed enquiry rate. It is a calculation, not an expected benchmark. Repeat scans, word of mouth and responses through other routes can make attribution incomplete.
Review one change at a time
Record the artwork version, dates, distribution points, number handed out, enquiries and resulting orders. Compare similar conditions where possible. If you change the offer, artwork and audience together, you cannot confidently tell which change influenced the result.
Explore marketing flyer printing once your brief is ready. Ask for a quotation based on your realistic quantity and campaign deadline.
