Before you order your business cards
Is letterpress the same as embossing?
Letterpress presses a design into the card surface. Embossing creates a raised impression. Tell us which effect you want so the specification is clear.
Which designs work well for letterpress?
Simple marks, open letterforms and generous spacing make the impression easier to assess. Ask us to review fine lines, small text and large solid areas before production.
How thick will the card be?
Stock and thickness must be confirmed for your order. The paper affects the impression, so avoid choosing from a screen image alone.
Can both sides be printed?
Discuss the two sides together. The impression and selected paper may affect the reverse, so confirm the layout and finish before approval.

Check your artwork before printing
A good-looking mockup is only the start. These checks help protect the details that customers need to read, scan and use.
Set the finished size
Use the agreed production template. Extend edge-to-edge backgrounds into the bleed area and keep names, contact details and borders inside the safe area. Confirm the required measurements before exporting.
Make the next step obvious
Give the name and preferred contact method a clear hierarchy. Review text at actual card size. For a QR code, use a clear background, leave space around it and test a printed sample on more than one phone.
Approve every version
Check spelling, phone numbers, email addresses and links for each team member. Match front and back layouts and quantities per name. Confirm the stock, finish, cost and required date in the quotation.
Review the impression, not just the artwork
Letterpress presses into the surface; it is different from raised embossing. Ask to review suitable paper and an available sample. Discuss the reverse side, small lettering and solid areas before agreeing the production specification.

Which business card finish is right for you?
Gold foil adds a metallic accent, velvet changes the surface feel, UV adds gloss and letterpress creates a pressed impression. Choose the effect around your artwork and how people will use the card.
