Before you order your business cards
Is this full UV coating or spot UV?
Specify whether you want gloss across a surface or only on selected elements. We will confirm the available process and coverage in your quotation.
What artwork is needed for selected UV areas?
If spot UV is agreed, provide a clearly labelled mask or layer showing the coated areas. Check its alignment with the printed design before approval.
Can a QR code sit in the glossy area?
Reflections and low contrast can make scanning harder. Keep the code simple and test a printed sample with the intended coating before approving the full run.
What else should I confirm?
Confirm the base stock, printed sides, any lamination and UV coverage together. These affect the final appearance and the quoted cost.
Product details
A glossy UV coating; confirm full coverage or selected areas.
Confirm the finished size, stock, printed sides and quantity per person in your quotation. Review every name and contact detail at actual size before approving production.

A card that works for your business
Check your artwork before printing
A good-looking mockup is only the start. These checks help protect the details that customers need to read, scan and use.
Set the finished size
Use the agreed production template. Extend edge-to-edge backgrounds into the bleed area and keep names, contact details and borders inside the safe area. Confirm the required measurements before exporting.
Make the next step obvious
Give the name and preferred contact method a clear hierarchy. Review text at actual card size. For a QR code, use a clear background, leave space around it and test a printed sample on more than one phone.
Approve every version
Check spelling, phone numbers, email addresses and links for each team member. Match front and back layouts and quantities per name. Confirm the stock, finish, cost and required date in the quotation.
Specify the UV coverage before approval
Agree whether the coating covers a whole side or selected elements. If spot UV is confirmed, supply a separate mask aligned with the print artwork. Test a printed QR code with the intended finish; reflections can affect scanning.
A card that works for your business
Which business card finish is right for you?
Gold foil adds a metallic accent, velvet changes the surface feel, UV adds gloss and letterpress creates a pressed impression. Choose the effect around your artwork and how people will use the card.
| Card finish | Look and feel | Choose it when | Design consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic printed cards | Printed branding and contact details. | You want a clear introduction for everyday networking or a consistent team layout. | Prioritise readable type and contrast; choose stock and finish to suit the job. |
| Gold foil cards | Reflective metallic detail on selected artwork. | You want a logo, monogram or name to catch the light. | Separate foil areas from print; fine lines and small gaps need review. |
| Velvet laminated cards | A soft-touch surface over the agreed sides. | You want the feel of the card to be part of the introduction. | Specify laminated sides and flag any area that must accept handwriting. |
| UV cards | A glossy coating; coverage is agreed for the order. | You want a glossy presentation or, where available, selected highlights. | Confirm full coverage versus spot UV; keep glare away from scan-critical areas. |
| Letterpress cards | An impression pressed into suitable card stock. | You want tactile lettering, a simple logo or a restrained design. | Paper and impression work together; review fine detail and the reverse side. |
