Gold Foil Business Cards: Where to Use the Metallic Accent
Gold foil works best when it has a clear role in the design. Choose the element you want people to notice—a logo, short name or small motif—then make sure the contact information still reads comfortably without relying on the metallic effect.
Choose one visual priority
Start with a plain version of the card. If the layout is difficult to understand without foil, adding shine will not solve the problem. Establish the order in which someone should notice the company, the person and the contact method.
A small accent may be enough. Ask the production team to assess the proposed area rather than assuming every fine detail, large solid panel or edge-to-edge border will reproduce as intended.
Keep everyday details easy to read
Review phone numbers, email addresses and small text at actual size. Metallic appearance changes with the viewing angle, so judge a physical sample under ordinary lighting. Consider keeping functional information in ordinary high-contrast print.

Understand what you are ordering
